HORST P. HORST

Il nome di HORST P. HORST è sinonimo di eleganza senza tempo, di sofisticatezza sensuale. Artista di punta del magazine Vogue per ben sei decenni, è stato una figura di calibro internazionale, capace di restituire una narrazione degli intrecciati mondi dell’arte, del design, della performance.

Maestro di luce, composizione ed illusione atmosferica, Horst P. Horst si è formato al fianco di Irving Penn e Richard Avedon come uno dei più eminenti fotografi di moda e ritrattisti del XX secolo. Figura internazionale, ha lavorato prevalentemente a Parigi e New York. Nato in Germania, è diventato cittadino americano nel 1943 cambiando il suo cognome da Bormann a Horst. La sua straordinaria gamma di lavori al di fuori dello studio fotografico trasmette una curiosità visiva ed inarrestabile nonché un desiderio perenne di nuove sfide. L’enorme collezione di stampe, disegni, quaderni, album e lettere che Horst ha accuratamente conservato per tutta la vita, insieme a migliaia di stampe negli archivi di Condé Nast, testimoniano il suo talento virtuoso.

Le sue immagini rivelano la straordinaria portata della sua carriera, comprendendo eleganti nudi, scatti di moda, ritratti di celebrità e studi per nature morte. La sua influenza è stata enorme: è a lui che ogni generazione successiva di fotografi ha guardato per trarne ispirazione.
